King's Cavalry Review- Kurassiers/Dragoons

The King had his review of the Prussian Kurassiers and Dragoons today. These are the men that will provide the energy and blood for the upcoming 1757 Campaign. There were 13 Kurassier and 12 Dragoon regts. present. The total was 2200 figures or 22000 real men in 133 sqds.

It took about 3 hours to lay out the 2200 figures....

The first pictures are of the storage trays for the individual regts. With this many individual units it is essential to have "good storage".

"Frederick & staff" review 9th, 10th, 11th, 12, & 13th Kurassiers. Please note Garde du Corps regt. in the back. I wish I could find an "eagle" to go on their "vexillum"

Next shot is a photo of the 1st thru 8th Kurassier regts. The difference in the number of figures in a regt is due to losses in the 1756 campaign.

These are the 12 Dragoon regts.... 1 thru 12. Notice that the 5th and 6th regts. are 10 sqds. strong.  I typically use them as 2 brigades.

Next we have a "long shot" of all this cavalry. This was over 1 scale mile in length!

After the review and "photo shots" I divided up the units into brigades and then divisions and executed some "maneuvers". It quickly became evident that I have a lot more work to do....in learning how to maneuver large bodies of cavalry. It is not uprising that the "real life experts" deployed in multiple lines and on both flanks. "Lots of cavalry" can lead to disorder!

Perhaps when the campaign is over I will publish "those" photos!.
